Paddock The Toad Candle

Paddock is the old name for a toad, and it is the name of a familiar. In English witchcraft folklore, a witch did not work alone. She kept a familiar, a small spirit that took the shape of an animal and served her for as long as she fed it. Cats, dogs, hares and mice were common, but the toad was among the most feared.

Cast in black beeswax/soy wax, Paddock is that companion made flame. He sits on your altar or windowsill as a watcher, guarding the threshold, keeping your secrets and standing with you while you work. Light him when you want your familiar nearby, or when you want something small and dark to keep the vigil with you.

Paddock smells of the place a toad would call home: the wet forest floor just after a storm has passed. The air is washed clean, the leaves are dripping, and the whole wood breathes out. A mix of Cedarwood, amber, moss, patchouli, and earth. 

When the flame is lit, Paddock calls. Answer him.

Due to the wax they are made from, they will drip. We recommend burning on a heat proof plate to protect your surfaces.  Never leave unattended, near children/pets, textiles or drafts.
